It’s the time of year for graduation parties, July 4th, and all other sorts of outdoor celebrations… and as the temperatures climb, our need for cooling beverages grows! This is an interesting selection from one of our favorites, Women’s Glory: the Kitchen, a 1977 publication of the Slovenian Women’s Union (see other recipes from it here, here, and here). The recipe’s author, Mimi Leskovar of Chicago, seems to think this drink is especially nice for teens… but it’s unlikely many people would be very crazy for this particular flavor combination, regardless of their age.

- 1 can Minute Maid frozen Lemonade concentrate
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup crushed peppermint cream candy* (no, not a typo!)
- 1 egg white, unbeaten
- 1-1/2 cups crushed ice
Place lemonade, water, crushed peppermint candy and egg white in electric blender or mixing bowl. Beat until frothy. Add crushed ice. Shake well and serve. Garnish with fresh mint (optional). Serves 2-3.
